Amid hours of questions from dozens of congressmen Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Ken Buck’s exchange with Robert Mueller was one of the more noteworthy.
Buck, a Windsor Republican and House Judiciary Committee member, asked Mueller if he could “charge the president with a crime after he left office?”
Replied Mueller: “Yes.”
Buck followed up: “You believe that he committed — that you could charge the president of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?”
Mueller: “Yes.”

Although Buck elicited just two one-word responses, those responses were noteworthy because they left the door open for possible legal trouble for President Donald Trump.
The Colorado Republican Party, which is led by Buck, didn’t mention the exchange in a lengthy email blast about the hearings, while Colorado Democrats were quick to applaud the congressman.
“I would like to personally thank Ken Buck for confirming with Robert Mueller that President Trump could indeed be indicted and criminally charged with obstruction of justice after he is out of office,” Democratic Chair Morgan Carroll said in a release.
